The original STandard InterFace (STIF) was defined by PNC as a protocol that worked over X.25, which delivered PNC information to a local system that displayed the data.

PNC decided that rather than develop a protocol just for STIF they would combine the facilities of both it and the DCT protocol into one. This new protocol is referred to as the STIF Replacement Gateway, or SRG. Besides being the new standard for STIF systems working over CJX, it will also eventually replace the DCT access to PNC.

Enable 40,000 Maximum Sessions with SRG

  • Terminal identities do not have to be arranged with PNC, other than printer identities.
  • Users can logon to PNC multiple times with the same user ID.
  • At any one time there can be 2,000 terminal sessions running through one gateway, not counting printing.
  • Printing supported through multiple gateways, even if a gateway fails.
  • No print queues get stuck, so no more #RP.
  • PNC logon controls still allow HTE audit tracking.
  • Multiple copies of prints are available.
  • Users are entered into groups, to control their transaction access.
  • Local PNC user administration and IT administration separated for security.
  • All HTE Web display styles still available, as per DCT displays.
  • One common HTE Web service to access SRG or DCT gateways concurrently.
  • Data sent to PNC, or received from PNC, use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption.
